I’m a creative director of design with a career spanning brand refreshes and entertainment marketing campaigns for streamers, studios, and television networks. I have also collaborated directly with filmmakers, museums, theme parks and some of the biggest global brands in gaming, food and beverage, construction and finance.
My design portfolio includes corporate identities, network rebrands, main titles, and 360° marketing campaigns across theatrical trailers, digital and social content, outdoor, and live events. My client's projects have taken me from Boston to New York to LA to Europe, Latin America and the middle east.
I’ve had the privilege of helping to build and manage design departments large and small at creative agencies such as Seismic Productions, mOcean, and Pittard Sullivan, as well as through my own studio, Jon Converse Design. I’m hands-on in every role — sometimes working independently as a one man band, but more often building teams that scale to the needs of each project.
I specialize in combining timeless marketing principles with the latest software, design methodologies, and AI to accelerate research, conceptual development and design execution. My process is strategic, innovative, agile and responsive to the unique needs of each project. I consider a project a success only if my team responded to changes, hit deadlines, stayed on budget AND made an impactful connection with the client's audience. Lastly, none of this is worthwhile unless we have a bit of fun along the way.
While every project is meaningful, the most memorable ones challenged our comfort zones and pushed creative boundaries in unexpected ways. Highlights from my career include creating AV marketing campaigns for Pixar for twelve years, the opening titles for the Miley Cyrus concert film, rebranding six public television stations in Turkey, working on The Annenberg Center for Photography's documentaries, and last but not least leading pro bono design efforts for Los Angles and Massachusetts non-profits. Please don't hesitate to reach out on LinkedIn if I can be of service in any way.
I was introduced to the power of brands at an early age. Along with blue jeans and t-shirts the Chuck Taylor shoe may be one of the most recognizable, timeless products and brands in the world...a symbol of artistic expression.
Throughout my life, once they know my name, total strangers have commented “Cool name. Do you own the company?” or “Can you get me a pair of Chuck Taylors?” Despite my great-great-grandfather founding the Converse Rubber Company, my family has no connection to the Converse brand of today that Nike owns.
My logo honors my family's name, legacy and is inspired by the Chuck Talyor shoe. The star is reimagined as a compass rose pointing to my name, with a unique angle, stitching pattern and typography that represents my personal brand.
